Central Crime Station seized 4.69 gms of Methamphetamine; two arrested

Port Blair, Nov 24: In a press meet at SP (CID) conference room, SP (CID), Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS and Shri Kumar Abhishek, Dy. SP (CID) informed that under the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign to reduce substance abuse on 21/11/2023, acting on a specific intelligence input received from reliable source, Police team comprising of SI Parvash, Head Constable Sanjit Madhu & K. Venkateshwar Rao, Constables N. Thangaraj, Chandran, K. Rajendran, Nanak Singh and Lady Home Guard Saramma of PS CCS conducted raid at Japan Road, Dairy Farm at 10 pm and seized 4.69 grams Methamphetamine from the possession of Sathya Priyan, Pvt. Driver R/o Dairy Farm near Japan Road and he was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities.

The raid has been taken place under the command of Shri Kumar Abhishek, DANIPS, Dy. SP (CID) and under overall supervision of Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID).

A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act-1985 has been registered at PS CCS and during the course of investigation, it is found that the recovered drug was supplied by one I. Naveen Ganesh, R/o Dean Street, Junglighat presently staying in a rented room at Dollygunj. Accordingly, I. Naveen Ganesh was also arrested on 23/11/2023 in the instant case. As per police records, I. Naveen Ganesh already have 6 cases and was arrested in another NDPS case of PS CCS earlier. He is also close to one Babul Sarkar, resident of Hut Bay who was arrested in a Methamphetamine case of PS Pahargaon and presently is in judicial custody.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) launched on 26 June 2021 on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Andaman and Nicobar Police registered 24 cases and arrested about 41 persons so far under this campaign.

- K Yadagiri Rao Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 27: It was a significant achievement in our nationís fight against the ongoing illegal drug trade with the seizure of the huge quantity of illegal drugs by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) of Andaman Nicobar Command in Andaman Seas creating history in the maritime domain in India. Based on an input, Andaman Nicobar Command took an operation on Nov. 25 and apprehended a Myanmarese Fishing boat named "Soe Wai Yan Htoo" in Andaman seas which was carrying approx. 6000 kgs of prohibited drug Methamphetamine.
