PBMC has started issuing Do's and Don'ts to conserve water as summer approaches

Port Blair, Feb. 07: The Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) has urged the citizens to conserve water. As the summer season approaches, with increasing demand and fixed supply of water, conservation is crucial to the sustainable growth and development of the city. With an average high temperature around 28ºC and humidity over 80% in the summer months, water usage tends to increase significantly during this time of year in Port Blair. PBMC has requested all citizens and commercial establishments to be mindful of their water usages over the coming months and take measures to reduce waste. Simple steps like turning off the tap when not in use, limiting shower times and avoiding pre-rinsing dishes can make a big difference in conserving our limited fresh water resources.
All citizens and visitors to Port Blair have been urged to do their part to save water. Let's work together in conserving the precious resources by adopting the Do's and Don't given below:
Do's
1. When it rains, collect rain water and use it for watering your gardens lawn and washing your vehicle.
2. Limit shower times.
3. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, shaving, face washing.
4. Check your toilets and wash basins for leakages.
5. Do install water saving toilets and shower heads.
6. Do use self-closing nozzle on your hose.
7. Use washing machine when there is full load.
Don'ts
1. Don't run the water while shaving and washing your hands or brushing your teeth.
2. Don't flush your toilet unnecessarily.
3. Don't water your side walk or drive way sweep them clean using brooms.
4. Don't let the water run while dishes.

- K Yadagiri Rao Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 27: It was a significant achievement in our nationís fight against the ongoing illegal drug trade with the seizure of the huge quantity of illegal drugs by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) of Andaman Nicobar Command in Andaman Seas creating history in the maritime domain in India. Based on an input, Andaman Nicobar Command took an operation on Nov. 25 and apprehended a Myanmarese Fishing boat named "Soe Wai Yan Htoo" in Andaman seas which was carrying approx. 6000 kgs of prohibited drug Methamphetamine.
